Overview
From the London to the power corridors of Davos, a global shift is underway, and America is once again at the center of it. In a wide-ranging interview on Michigan’s Big Show, America First Global Chairman and CEO Gentry Beach joined host Michael Patrick Shields to cut through the noise and lay out what many in the media won’t: the world is realigning, U.S. economic strength is returning, and the failed ideologies of the past are collapsing under their own weight. Beach addressed the theatrics of progressive leaders on the world stage, outlined how President Trump is reshaping global supply chains and diplomacy, and delivered a blunt assessment of why communism, from Cuba to Venezuela, is nearing its end. The message was clear and unapologetic: America is back, and the world is adjusting accordingly.

Host: Michael Patrick Shields Guest: Gentry Beach, Chairman & CEO, America First Global
Michael Patrick Shields: It’s a wonderful world. I’m gone walking on. It’s an intriguing world, to say the least.
And our next guest—I'm totally psyched to talk to him—Gentry Beach is the Chairman and CEO of America First Global. Speaking of “global,” there was a lot of news this week coming out of Davos, Switzerland, at the World Economic Forum.
He’s on our AT&T line, our radio stage.
Welcome back to the program, and Happy New Year to you.
Gentry Beach: Happy New Year to you. It’s great to be with you. I’m in London this morning, so it’s great coming to you there in Michigan.
Michael Patrick Shields: How’s everything in your world? Frozen here—it’s below zero. I’m guessing the weather in jolly old England is a bit better than that.
One of my favorite restaurants in the world is in Chelsea—La Famiglia. They just celebrated an anniversary. Have you been there?
Gentry Beach: That’s a great one, for sure. Yes, I have. That’s a great one.
Michael Patrick Shields: They had five hundred people at the anniversary party. I was seated in the British Museum of History with Marietta Macchioni and his family—but I digress.
Let’s go to Switzerland. Let’s talk about California Governor Gavin Newsom, who told world leaders they were “wearing knee pads”—Trump signature-series knee pads—suggesting they’re acquiescing to Donald Trump.
He even brought out a prop pair. How did that go over, Gentry?
Gentry Beach: Yeah, it’s embarrassing. Unfortunately, he’s been an embarrassment.
I think Secretary Bessent—who may be the best Treasury Secretary we’ve ever had, certainly in my lifetime—basically said that Newsom knows less about economics than Kamala Harris, which is hard to even imagine.
He could barely win California, my friend. His ideas of a presidential run mean he’s going to have to reinvent his entire history, which Democrats often try to do.
It was embarrassing for our country, and everybody knows it.
Michael Patrick Shields: Even aside from politics, his presentation seemed uneven—almost unhinged—and totally out of place at Davos.
Our governor was there too, Gretchen Whitmer, criticizing the current president of the United States on the world stage. No matter who the president is, that feels awkward to me.
Gentry Beach: It’s a bad look. A very bad look.
Look, they’re losing. The things President Trump is getting accomplished are absolutely amazing. They’re trying to harm him ahead of the midterms, and we’re at a critical moment politically.
I’m very bullish on what President Trump is doing.
Gentry Beach (continued): From a business perspective, Trump has created a new global dynamic. America is back.
Business leaders like myself are out around the world working to rebuild supply chains that were outsourced to China for the last thirty years. We have to rebuild them fast—copper, antimony, rare earths, the materials needed for F-35s, AI data centers.
You can’t build AI without copper. America has to bring this home. President Trump is enabling that.
Michael Patrick Shields: While the media focused on marks on his hands—he’s seventy-nine years old—he was assembling something called a “Board of Peace” with leaders from twenty countries. What do you make of that?
Gentry Beach: I think it’s genius.
The world is moving toward peace and prosperity. I see a new world alignment forming. I’m on the ground in these markets—often one of the few Americans there.
What’s forming is a U.S.-led alignment that jumps over Western Europe as it exists today. You have Eastern Europe—countries like Bulgaria—joining this peace framework.
You have the U.S., Turkey as a close ally, Ukraine coming into the fold, and—surprisingly to some—Russia becoming an ally as well. That’s what’s happening.
Gentry Beach (continued): You’re going to see Russia and Ukraine work together. Much of the Middle East will join.
Western Europe will be left out unless the EU reforms. Either the EU breaks apart, or governments move back to the center—or the right.
Until then, the EU is in serious peril.
Michael Patrick Shields: The Wall Street Journal reports the U.S. is seeking regime change in Cuba by the end of the year, possibly sooner. Any viability to that?
Gentry Beach: I think it happens much sooner. I don’t think they can last sixty days.
We’ve cut off fuel from Venezuela to Cuba. The key now is avoiding a humanitarian crisis. There are incredible Cuban people there.
President Trump understands this. The administration understands this.
Cuba won’t last sixty to ninety days. The regime will fold—just like Venezuela. It’ll be great for the U.S. and great for Cuba.
Gentry Beach (closing):Communism hasn’t worked anywhere in the world. It hasn’t worked in Cuba. It hasn’t worked in Venezuela.
Communism is over. America’s back. It’s a very exciting time.
Michael Patrick Shields: We’ll drop the mic on that.
Gentry Beach, Chairman and CEO of America First Global. And of course, Marco Rubio as Secretary of State—being Cuban American—plays into this as well.
